This past Saturday, Beth and the kids went up to
Gardner Village in the Salt Lake City area to see the witches that show up each Halloween season and get their annual pre-Halloween sugar rush at the special "House of Sugar and Hopped-Up Kids". Its real name is "Afton's Candy Shop", but I think they should rename it. Anyway, the real reason they like to go (Beth says) is to take a cart ride with one of the witches. They crack corney Halloween related jokes and tell kids all about witches. Well, not really "all about". Just whatever they can fit into the 10 minute ride. So they leave out the part where witches actually eat children in most original fairy tales. Nice try, Harry Potter. We know about the people eating and frankly, we're tired of the cover-ups. We may go see your next movie and wait in a five hour line to see it, and then go see it again the same day, but that's the extent of our support. Oh. And we'll buy the special movie DVD edition when it comes out. Because, how can you resist? You've just got to love that Harry Potter. He's a great guy. A real peach. Makes you completely forget about the children eating.
But I digress.
Here's a picture of the kids on their hay ride with their witch (she's not really visible, but she is the pudgy one holding the toad on the Gardner Village website who looks like she was just pinched on the bum):

P.S. Fake toad.
Here's Lily and Miles with a couple of their cousins Rossalynn and Jayden with their super-cute pumpkin hats made by their Grammy (Beth's mom):

Here's Jayden and Papa (Beth's father):

And here's all the cousins in their youthful bliss of not knowing that death lurks around every corner of their life. And what about witch-eating? Oblivious. Sad. But there they are. I love the hats! I wish that I was talented enough to make one for Laurel. Ahhh, the innocence of our children and that they don't realize the dangers of witches eating habits at this time of year. Oh to be so blissfully unaware....
