The first part of the party focused on the American Girl Kit Kitteredge from the 1930's Depression Era. Brooklyn's mother asked if Lilette would arrive to the party in her Kit costumeand please bring her Kit doll. Then she surprised the girls with a special guest. The model who posed for the artist who illistrated the Kit books, Walter Rane, came to the party to the delight of the party. It was a dream come true for Lilette. The "real" Kit took pictures with the girls and signed autographs and told us all what it was like to model for an American Girl artist. The inspiration for Kit was 8 to 10 years-old when Walter Rane, her neighbor, asked her to "sit" for him. Now obviously she is a very pretty 17 year-old high school senior. We think she still looks like Kit. And she was very kind. She let us take as many photos of her as we wanted. In Lilette's own words, "best party, ever".
Here Lilette and Brooklyn are explaining a little bit about Kit Kitteredge to the other girls-not knowing who is about to walk through the door:
This was Lilette's first Kit book:

The rest of the party was devoted to another American Girl named Molly from the 1940's WWII period. The girls played a Molly Mystery:
Each of the guests received an invitation telling them which character they would be playing at the party and what they should wear. Lilette played Emily a refugee from England:

Lilette wore Emily's tap outfit and dressed a doll in a doll sized Emily's tap outfit for the mystery game:

At the end of their 1940's fun Brooklyn's mom explained to the girls about rationing during WWII. And they all got to take home a real ration stamp that belonged to Brooklyn's great-grandmother. It is a seriously cool piece of history:

Oh my goodness! How awesome! I love how they had so much fun, but also learned a ton...and probably didn't even know it. Brilliant! That will stay with them forever! Very, very cool.
Molly was always my favorite American Girl. Looks like an awesome party. How do people get such awesome hookups?
