Battle Of The Books

All of the children at Vineyard Elementary competed in "Battle of the Books".


The students read books from a list their school librarian gave them at the beginning of the year:


Then their teachers divided the students into teams.


The the teams competed in a game show type contest. Then a bracket system was set up and teams were eliminated one round at a time. Miles's team was the top ranking 4th grade team.


Today, Miles's team (named the Light Saber Monkeys) went against the top ranking 3rd grade team:


We knew Miles would walk away with either a 1st or 2nd place trophy so we told him we were really proud of him no matter what. Since Lily's 6th grade team won 1st place last year we knew Miles felt a lot of pressure. He even woke up with hives on his forehead and face this morning. On the way to school Miles asked Beth if he could say a prayer to by himself in the car (it was surprisingly long).

Here is our hero Mr. Torgersen. We love our Miles and we are VERY grateful for teachers who are helping Miles become a good student.
