Miles Last Pinewood Derby

Miles first Pinewood Derby was as he calls it, "An Epic Fail". His car was so light that it came in 30 seconds behind the second to last car every race. Then we got a break from pinewood derby's and had the rain gutter regatta last year-which went OK.

This year Brian did quite a bit of research on adding weight to the pinewood block without going over the legal 5 ounces. Miles decided instead of designing a car he wanted his wood block to resemble his own skateboard. So Brian and Miles carved out the wood and added grip tape and even found screws that matched Miles simple black skate board.

We're lucky this is Miles last pinewood derby because his mini-skateboard came in first every time. Undefeated. We were biting our nails, but we didn't need to because the weight and design worked by happy accident.
