Miles Birthday Party

Miles had a Harry Potter themed party today and had the time of his life. We did everything we could to make our house feel like Hogwarts. We even dressed up like professors from the world of J.K. Rowling.

Lilette was our little Prefect.

First, we sorted the kids into houses with a Sorting Hat puppet and gave them badges with crests on them (though we omitted Slytherin because we felt that might seem mean to put any kids into that house). Then we had potions class (making root beer with dry ice and concocting a kind of "Orange Julius" type drink as a luck potion), had divination (where Beth told all of the kids their futures by looking into a crystal ball), did History of Magic (which was the Harry Potter Scene-it DVD game where they watch clips from the movies and answer questions), had them create wands (chocolate dipped pretzel sticks with sprinkles), and had a great feast.

We made a Quidditch Field cake and found candles with the four house crests.

Happy Birthday Miles!

Nice job with the cake. Emily never makes me anything that cool...[sniff] Also good job pretending to have other friends besides us...
