Summer Night Outings

A few weeks ago Brian took Lily out to see a play ("The Fantasticks") at the Sundance Outdoor Amphitheatre. It was kind of a "Daddy-Daughter Date". Though it is summer and pretty warm outside, it did get a little cold, but with some blankets, hot chocolate and popcorn it was still a very enjoyable experience.

Last night, since Lily was at a friend's sleepover, the rest of us (Brian, Beth, and Miles) went to the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival. It was just for one of the main story-telling events at night called "Shivers", which was mainly creepy or scary stories. There were four tellers who told stories in a large open canopy on a stage. There were several hundred people there but with all lights off except for the main spotlight on the teller, it felt pretty intimate and a few of the stories did legitimately freak Beth out (i.e. the Story of Mr. Fox which pre-dates Shakespear. The spoken story was creepier and a bit more graphic -- not for kids).

It has been fun to do a few late summer night things. We're going to be kind of sad when the weather gets colder.
