Suzuki

I haven't ever posted about Miles and his private Suzuki lessons. This is Miles with his teacher Rachel Maxwell. We really like her. She is also a volunteer teacher at Vineyard Elementary's orchestra and Mountainview High School. This year she is on the BYU orchestra herself so she is quite a busy young woman:

Here Rachel is helping Miles fine-tune "Long, Long Ago":

I'm so glad you found a teacher! Practice your bow hold, it's the key to everything!

Oh, Jench we are having such a ahard time with Miles' bow hold! Rossalynn and his orchestra teacher say to do "bunny ears" and that puts his middle and ring finger up too high on the frog. Then his private teacher says he needs to put his pinky finger in a round rainbow shape which puts his middle and ring finger much further down on the frog. Miles ends up with his right shoulder really tense. I don't know which is the correct way that will help him relax his right shoulder completely so he can get a real "weighted" bow sound. AH! Gurrr! Parental frustration:(
