Lily's Suprise Party Play

On Monday morning we surprised Lily with a Colonial themed party where she and her friend and cousin performed the play "Tea for Felicity". Lily got the "American Girl" script for Christmas. We all dressed up like people in the colonies from 1775 and ate food from recipes we found in "Felicity's Cookbook".

Here is a picture of Lily's best friend Brooklyn, Lilette, and her cousin Rossalynn:

They made fruit pyramids (from the craft book "Felicity's Crafts - Fun for Colonial Children") ... and no, I'm not making any of this up. The amount of "Felicity" books and materials could apparently "fill a small stable" (according to "Felicity's Guide to Books of Colonial Times of Felicity: Volume 8 -- Stables & Other Colonial Buildings").

Here is a picture of Lilette, Brooklyn, Rossalynn, and Miles displaying the paper model of a Colonial town they put together:

In the play, Miles performed the part of "Angry Man" and was really excited to be included because he said his costume made him look like a pirate. Here is a video of Miles practicing his first line. His character is upset with Brian's character because Brian's character (Felicity's father) is a patriot and Angry Man is a Loyalist:

We want to thank Beth's mom for lending us her sewing machine for 3 weeks and for helping Beth to sew all of the tricky stuff (like zippers). We really appreciate Debbie and Sandy (Beth's mother and sister) for spending their day off helping 10 year-old girls learn their lines, paint Grace hoops, pinning Beth into her too small costume, for being the audience, and for video taping the play. We couldn't have done it without you!!!

The verdict is in. You guys are the coolest parents EVER! Seriously. I don't know anyone who would go to all of that trouble to create something like this for their child's birthday. And look at Lily's beaming little face! This is awesome!

How fun! But I wanted to hear Brian's lines.

Miles nailed that! I see a Tony in his future.

To avoid redundancy, I'll just say I agree with every statement above.
